Recruiting Corner: Alabama Soaring Up Rankings, Dominating the "Zoom" Season

That whole myth about Alabama having a slow start in recruiting the class of 2021, yeah, it was just a myth.

The COVID-19 pandemic might have put fright into some Alabama fans, when in-person recruiting shut down, but it did not stop coach Nick Saban and his coaching staff from grinding away on the Zoom meetings, the Facetimes, and other virtual measures to lay the foundation for another stellar group of high school prospects.

But, with anything else that he has showed us all in college career, Saban adapts and he does it better than most.

With no in-person visits over the last four months, the program was lure away five-star offensive tackle JC Latham from Ohio State and LSU, establish itself as the top destination for the Brockermeyer twins, who announced their decision on Friday afternoon, and land, arguably, one of the best pass rushers in the country with Dallas Turner.

In terms of rankings, Sports Illustrated All-American will release its in the near future, but on the 247Sports Composite, the Crimson Tide sit No. 6 overall and No. 3 in the SEC. Rivals has Alabama at No. 9.

At one point in May, this group was sitting in the 50's behind Missouri and Ole Miss. So, the heater Alabama is on is quite impressive and it might not stop anytime soon as two more top targets are set to announce over the next week.

Terrence Ferguson, a four-star offensive guard from the Peach State, is set to announce his decision at 3 p.m eastern on Sunday afternoon between Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, and others, while five-star defensive tackle Damon Payne will make his commitment public on July 26th.

The Crimson Tide is battling with Kentucky, Arizona State, USC, and LSU for Payne.
