The Alabama Crimson Tide took a slight jump in the 2024 football recruiting rankings after receiving defensive lineman Isaia Faga's commitment on Wednesday. 

The Tide finds itself ranked 28th now by 247Sports with its nine-member class, but fear not. Anticipation is mounting among industry leaders that head coach Nick Saban is about to do what he always does and the Tide will be rolling its way to the top of the rankings.

News and Notes

2024 four-star cornerback Jameer Grimsley announced he would be making his commitment on Saturday at 6 p.m. Grimley has Alabama, Michigan and Florida in his final three.

•2024 five-star safety KJ Bolden told On3 Sports that Alabama has always been in his top three schools after his official visit this past weekend. Bolden is the top safety in the class and said Saban sold him on his ability to play multiple positions in the secondary. 

• 2024 4-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun told Brett Greenberg of 247Sports that he will commit on July 5. the 6-foot-6, 355-pound lineman is deciding between Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Auburn.

• 2024 4-star tight end Roger Saleapaga tweeted on Monday that due to his strong performance in camp that Alabama offered him a scholarship. The 6-foot-4, 195 pound prospect from Utah already has offers from Auburn, Tennessee and others. 

Tide-Bits

• 2024 four-star guard Labaron Philon posted a photo on his Instagram in an Alabama uniform on Tuesday. Philon is the No. 1 player out of the state of Alabama and was previously committed to Auburn. 

• 2025 five-star guard Tyler Jackson told On3sports he plans to make an official visit to Tuscaloosa in September. He says the Tide and Syracuse are neck-and-neck at the moment for his services.

• Alabama baseball signee Kade Snell from Wallace State won National Junior College Player of the Year on Monday. 

Checking Out The Capstone

Unfortunately Tuscaloosa, like the rest of the NCAA, faces a few quiet weekends with the dead period continuing through the majority of July. 

Recruits are obviously allowed to visit on their own schedules and budgets, but Universities cannot host official visits and in-person contact must cease.

Coaches are still allowed to contact and communicate with prospects by way of email, phone, social media or other indirect methods.
