The NCAA-mandated dead period began on Monday but that doesn't prevent prospects from making decisions or announcements.

Wednesday afternoon, in-state defensive lineman, Isaia Faga took to social media to announce he is flipping his commitment from Utah to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Faga, from Phenix City, Ala. is considered a three-star prospect by recruiting services but had scholarship offers from every major program in the country.  He had been committed to Utah since December of 2022.

Alabama offered Faga a scholarship in March, he took an official visit to Tuscaloosa in early June and on Wednesday his primary recruiters, Eric Wolford and Freddie Roach got his commitment.

Faga is the second defensive lineman to join the 2024 class along with Birmingham-native Jeremiah Beaman.

The 6-foot-2, 275 pounder helped Central Phenix City to the semifinals of last year's Class 7A state playoffs and will look to lead the Red Devils deeper in his senior year.

The Tide now has nine commitments in the 2024 class and the three major recruiting service websites all evaluate Alabama differently. On3sports gives Alabama the No. 6 overall class, 247Sports considers the Tide's class as No. 26 and Rivals ranks Alabama's 2024 class No. 30 in this early period of the cycle.

Faga's flip had been foreshadowed for the previous few weeks by scouting services, and many pundits predict this to be the beginning of several additions to Alabama's 2024 class.
