How Well Are Auburn’s Recruiting Efforts Panning Out And What’s Next?

Auburn is in a position to sign an elite recruiting class

The 2025 Auburn recruiting efforts should be applauded, at least so far.

The Tigers are battling with the top programs in the SEC and around the country and winning recruiting battles. Below are three questions that help to define where Auburn stands and what could happen in the coming weeks and months.

1) The next recruit to commit to Auburn will be?

After A-Day, several targets could pull the trigger. The list of recruits includes unexpected commitment possibilities, too.

Sure, the most likely candidate to commit is Dante Core. He’s the cornerback from Fort Walton Beach (Fla.) High School who’s deciding between Auburn and Ole Miss. However, with so many prospects on campus this past weekend anything is possible.

It could even be a class of 2026 prospect. April through June will be wild for recruiting and something random happening should not be taken for granted. Official visits for 2025 recruits are getting ready to begin as well. There’s also a big decision looming this coming Sunday, April 14.

That’s when Elite 11 quarterback finalist Husan Longstreet will be making his decision. From Corona (Calif.) Centennial, Longstreet is choosing between Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Oregon.

2) How is Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class doing when comparing it to other top SEC programs like LSU, Alabama, and Georgia?

Here are the rankings of the SEC teams, per Rivals, from top to bottom:

#3 LSU, #6 Oklahoma, #8 Alabama, #9 Auburn, #11 Tennessee, #13 Georgia, #14 Texas, #16 Texas A&M, #25 Florida, #30 Ole Miss, #32 Kentucky, #44 Mississippi State, #53 Arkansas, #56 Vanderbilt, #64 Missouri, and #72 South Carolina.

Auburn has 10 verbal commitments, including three inside the Rivals top 250 rankings.

3) What’s the next objective to conquer for the Tigers?

It’s Year 1 for Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer and many on his staff do not have the personal ties to in-state programs. Hugh Freeze and Auburn must win the in-state recruiting battles with the Crimson Tide, as well as keep LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and Miami from stealing top prospects. So far so good.

Auburn is setting itself up for a tremendous in-state recruiting haul. It’s realistic to see the Tigers sign at least seven, perhaps eight, of the top 15 recruits in the state of Alabama by Rivals. A few names to think about include the following with their Rivals’ in-state ranking as well.

Running back Alvin Henderson at #3, offensive tackle Micah DeBose at #4, defensive end Zion Grady at #5, defensive end Jared Smith at #6, safety Anquon Fegans at #7, Auburn commitment Malik Autry at #8, Auburn commitment Jakaleb Faulk at #10, and hybrid safety Eric Winters at #12, among others.
