Auburn Briefing: Could Connor Lew be the best center in college football?

Expectations are high for Connor Lew in 2024.

The Auburn Tigers got a special player when they flipped Connor Lew from Miami to help build the 2023 class.

Despite being listed as a three-star by most services, he was ready to be an SEC-level starter shortly after he stepped foot on campus.

In a conversation with Gunner Britton, the standout Auburn offensive lineman who is now prepping for the NFL Draft, he was very impressed with what Lew could be.

"He could be the best center in college football next year," Britton said when asked about Lew. "I've been around a long time in college football and I've seen a lot of impressive guys and, I mean, even some of the freshmen they brought in this year and even like Keldric Faulk and them are going to be really special players. But offensive line's a position that you don't see many guys step in as a true freshman and play. You just don't see it. And for him, I felt like we didn't really skip a beat. I felt like he was, the first time I met him, I could tell the kid was different. He has a maturity about him that most 18-year-old kids don't have. And you could just tell with the way he attacked, everything he did that he was going to be a really good player."

Lew played 435 snaps as a true freshman. In pass protection, Lew did not give up a sack. He allowed just six hurries all season according to PFF.
