Auburn Briefing: Tigers among final two for SEC offensive line transfer

Auburn could land an offensive lineman soon.

Auburn has been pursuing offensive linemen via the portal and it seems to be close to finding a potential starter for 2024.

Mississippi State OT transfer Percy Lewis made the official visit to Auburn on Saturday and it sounds like it went well. A handful of Auburn media members said after speaking with him that they liked Auburn's chances to land him.

Lewis will decide between Auburn and Arkansas and a decision should come soon. He was impressed with everything Auburn showed him but he also spoke highly of Arkansas.

Lewis should have two years left of eligibility but he told reporters after his visit that the plan is to just be at the next school for one season.

Percy Lewis bio

Lewis is listed at 6-foot-8, 345 pounds. He started seven games in 2023.

Auburn has actively hosted and spent time with transfer offensive linemen in search of a potential starter at tackle. The assumption is that it will allow Auburn to scoot Dillon Wade inside to guard and play next to Connor Lew at center. Izavion Miller would be the other tackle.

According to PFF, Lewis played 491 snaps at Mississippi State last season. Almost all of his offensive snaps were at left tackle. He took six snaps at inline tight end to help in the running game.

Auburn has added wide receiver Robert Lewis, wide receiver SamJackson V, defensive lineman Gage Keys, and linebacker Dorian Mausi via the transfer portal this portal window. Auburn is looking for more help in the trenches on both sides of the ball.
