Auburn debuts new “Jack” defensive position

In this story:
The Auburn Tigers football team has made a change to the roster - the Jack position.
The Edge and Buck position have been used over recent years to describe or name the boundary rusher, and the Jack position will be the name of this year’s boundary rusher it seems.
New defensive coordinator Ron Roberts has currently named five players to be next season's Jack. Senior transfer Elijah McAlister, true Freshmen Keldrick Faulk and Brenton Williams, Sophomore Dylan Brooks, and Senior Hayden Brice.
Given the names mentioned for the Jack position, the position will most likely be for boundary players who will rush the quarterback, stuff the edge on run plays, and even go out into coverage on a fake blitz package.
Roberts, who is known for his unique defenses, will continue that here for Auburn. This Jack backer position proves that Roberts might be at a new school but he’s up to his same tricks. Roberts led Baylor to a top-10 scoring defense in 2021.
Auburn is looking for production at this position after losing Derick Hall, Eku Letoa, and Marcus Bragg a season ago.
