College football outlet tabs 2023 Iron Bowl as the best game of the season

Auburn's heartbreaker vs Alabama at Jordan-Hare this season was a game Tiger fans probably want to forget as quickly as possible.

The the 31-yard touchdown from Jalen Milroe to give the Crimson Tide a dramatic 27-24 win will forever be sealed inside Iron Bowl history as one of the greatest installments inside the rivalry.

According to one college football outlet, it will go down as the best game of the entire 2023 season.

Saturday Tradition recently released a newsletter detailing the top 10 games of the 2023 season. Auburn vs Alabama was at No. 1.

"Iron Bowl lore received a major addition this season when Jalen Milroe and Isaiah Bond connected on a play that had an instant nickname — The Gravedigger," newsletter author Keith Farner wrote. "Oh by the way, it kept Alabama’s College Football Playoff hopes alive. Facing 4th-and-31, Jalen Milroe stood in the pocket long enough to bake Christmas cookies, and eventually found Bond in the back left corner of the end zone. The last-minute touchdown gave Alabama the win. While Nick Saban stressed that Alabama practices that play, he admitted that it takes a bit of luck to work out. This rivalry already has plenty of iconic nickname plays and games, so to add another takes an awfully huge development. That was the case this year, and it propelled Alabama into the national championship picture."
