Three things to know about Mike Wright, Mississippi State before they play Auburn

In this story:
Auburn may be in for a slugfest this weekend against Mississippi State.
The last time the Bulldogs came to Jordan-Hare Stadium they erased a massive deficit and tossed the ball around in a 43-34 victory.
They look a little different now in year one under Zach Arnett. And after Will Rogers went out with an injury, Vanderbilt transfer Mike Wright has stepped in at quarterback.
Gone are the days of the Air Raid. This is a much different team stylistically.
Here are three things to know about Wright and the MSU offense before they take on the Auburn Tigers, who are struggling offensively themselves.
Wright is a legitimate dual threat
During his three seasons with the Commodores, Wright rushed for 905 yards and seven touchdowns on a 5.1 yards per carry. 5017 of those yards game in his junior season.
He's not the most efficient passer (56.2% career completion percentage) but he's got the ability to make plays. One could compare him to California's Sam Jackson V, who gave Auburn troubles earlier this season.
Mississippi State doesn't have the passing attack they used to
While Wright didn't have much of a chance to get the passing game going against Arkansas last week (just 85 yards to go along with a touchdown and an interception), the Bulldogs have failed to capitalize on Will Rogers' senior season. MSU ranks 11th in the conference in passing yards per game after averaging 311 air yards a season ago.
This State offense struggles to move the ball, and it showed in a 7-3 victory over Arkansas.
MSU may be comfortable making this game ugly
It isn't like Zach Arnett and the Bulldogs will need to do much to make this contest an ugly one, but the team will gladly do so anyway. Stylistically, State is comfortable turning games into slugfests. Arnett, the former defensive coordinator for San Diego State (an extremely physical team that plays chaotic defense), has already made his mark on this program in year one.
The offense isn't looking for explosive plays. Sure, Wright may have the ability to create some, but MSU isn't trying to be high octane. They're ok with wrestling in the dirt for four quarters.
