Baylor Holds Big Lead Over Kansas Through 1st Half

The Baylor Bears came to play against the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday in Waco

Coming off of two-straight disappointing losses, the Baylor Bears were looking to bounce back in a big way on Saturday against the Kansas Jayhawks at McClane Stadium.

And through the first half of play, that is exactly what they have done, leading the Jayhawks 28-3 heading into the locker room for the break.

Thus far, it has been an all-around effort for the Bears, who have dominated on both sides of the ball in the early goings.

Offensively, the Bears have scored on four of their six possessions, racking up 249 total yards of offense along the way.

Bears Quarterback Blake Shapen, who was questionable heading into the week after entering concussion protocol, was solid throughout the half, completing 8 of 14 passes for 99 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

On the ground, the Bears were effective as well, rushing 28 times for 150 total yards, and three of their four first-half touchdowns.

Richard Reese had 15 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown on his own.

However, it was on the defensive end that the Bears were most impressive, allowing the Jayhawks to amass just 58 yards of total offense in the first half, including just 35 yards through the air from backup quarterback Jason Bean.

The Bears will hope to keep their dominant form in the second half, as they move towards their second Big 12 win of the season.
