Baylor’s Noah Rauschenberg: ‘We’ve Just Got to Go Out There and Execute’

Baylor Bears senior kicker discusses Kansas State, Phillip Brooks and playing at McLane Stadium

Baylor Bears senior kicker Noah Rauschenberg, a soft-spoken and articulate young man who rarely takes the stage for media availability, was rather blunt when asked about the upcoming showdown with the Kansas State Wildcats.

Especially in terms of what the Bears expect from a Wildcats team currently ranked No. 23 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 polls.

“Every time we’ve played them, they’ve always been a real physical team,” Rauschenberg said. “They’re always tough. They’re always well coached and they handle their business and do everything right. It’s going to be a tough opponent. We’ve just got to go out there and execute, and hopefully, we can come out on top.”

In order to do so, Baylor coach Dave Aranda and company must prepare to face Kansas State return specialist Phillip Brooks.

What makes him so dangerous?

“He’s just an elite player,” Rauschenberg said. “He’s very agile, great speed and he just has the instincts that a lot of other guys don’t have and just knows when to cut, how to cut, and just finds the open space to get yardage whenever he can.”

Hopefully, Baylor’s special teams' units will be ready for a battle come Saturday night under the lights at McLane Stadium.

“We always love playing at McLane because of our fans,” Rauschenberg said. “We want them to come out strong and we know it’s a night game, and it’s the first night game in a couple of years for us here.

“It’s going to be fun watching all the excitement and all the buzz, so it’s going to be a huge atmosphere and we expect a lot. And we hope that they [the fans] can make a difference in this game.”
