Baylor Basketball Battling BYU, UConn, Others for Five-Star Moussa Kamissoko

Five-star forward Moussa Kamissoko revealed the nine schools that he will be visiting in the next few months, with his visit to Baylor scheduled for October 16th. Moussa is the seventh-ranked small forward in his class and a top-20-ranked prospect from Glen Head, NY. If Moussa were to commit to the Bears, this would be Baylor's sixth five-star commit since 2023.

A Dream Player For Drew's System

Standing at six-foot-seven with an almost seven-foot wingspan, he has the perfect build for a modern Big 12 wing. Scott Drew has a great history of developing these stretch wings into offensive playmakers, and his wingspan gives him the ability to become an effective shot-contester without sacrificing any speed or athleticism for the need to gain weight.

Moussa Kamissoko, Rivals' No. 8 overall prospect in the 2027 class, has scheduled official visits to the following programs, per source:

Illinois, Louisville, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Virginia, BYU, UConn, Syracuse, and Florida State

Kamissoko’s production in the Nike EYBL circuit with the PSA Cardinals proves his game will definitely translate to the Big 12's physicality. Averaging 16.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 35% from deep, Moussa looks to be far more than a spot-up shooter or rim-runner. He has the glass-crashing ability, can start fast breaks, and gives Drew the ability to shuffle him from the two guard all the way up to a stretch power forward without lacking any defense.

The Long Island Lutheran Pipeline

Moussa comes from a high school that Baylor and Scott Drew are well familiar with, the same program that has developed players like V.J. Edgecombe and the Mingo brothers. The relationship Scott Drew and his staff have developed with LuHi's players is real. I think this gives the Bears a major leg up because they will know exactly how to get the most out of his style of play and be able to develop him into the dominant stretch forward he looks to become.

Last But Not Least

Baylor will be the last visit scheduled for Moussa, which necessarily isn't a bad thing in my eyes. I think this gives Baylor the perfect opportunity to really wow this recruit, even after not having the greatest season the previous year.

It's crazy to think about it, but by the time Kamissoko visits Waco, we will be just 17 days away from Baylor's first regular-season game. This gives Scott Drew and his team the final in-person pitch to this kid to follow a growing tradition of talented players entering Baylor University and turning into the NBA-level talents that Scott Drew has continued to develop year after year.
