Boston College men’s basketball will play UMass next season at TD Garden in Boston, Mass., according to a report from CBS Sports college basketball insider John Rothstein.

Rothstein shared the news via social media on Thursday morning.

“NEWS: Boston College and UMass will meet next season in a neutral site game at TD Garden in Boston, according to multiple sources,” said Rothstein via X.

According to the report on his site College Hoops Today, there is no time frame on the announcement nor has an official date been set yet for the game.

This will be the second consecutive year the Eagles and Minutemen have met for a neutral site game. This past season, Boston College and UMass played on Dec. 10, 2025, at MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., as a part of the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic.

UMass defeated Boston College 76-74 after two made free throws by Minutemen guard Marcus Banks Jr. with five seconds remaining in regulation. Eagles guard Chase Forte missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Last season, Boston College went 11-20 overall which included a 4-14 mark in ACC play. The Eagles missed the postseason for the second straight season after Pitt took the final spot in the ACC Tournament.

The Eagles have already had a busy offseason since their season came to a close on March 7. The program fired head coach Earl Grant after spending five seasons with the team and hired UConn assistant coach Luke Murray to replace Grant. Murray had his introductory press conference on Tuesday afternoon and will officially join the Eagles after the Huskies season ends.

Murray will coach in the Final Four this weekend as UConn takes on Illinois on Saturday evening 6:09 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

Boston College has also had two players announce their plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens next week, guard Akbar Waheed III and guard Luka Toews

As for UMass, the team went 17-16 overall this past season and 7-11 in MAC play. The Minutemen advanced to the postseason and appeared in its conference tournament where it lost to Toledo in the semifinals 77-67 on March 13 to conclude its season.

Boston College and UMass’ full 2026-27 slate will be announced at a later date.
