Zach Wilson Throws Two Touchdowns to Lead Jets Over Texans

Wilson returned to the lineup and led the Jets to a dominant victory

What a rollercoaster of a week it has been for former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson. After getting benched as the Jets starting quarterback a few weeks ago, the Jets offense got even worse. New York lost both games with Wilson on the bench.

On Monday, a report from The Athletic said that Zach Wilson was "reluctant" to play for the Jets this season after getting benched. The story spread like wildfire.

On Wednesday, Wilson had the first opportunity to speak to the media after he was named the starter for the upcoming game against the Texans. Wilson said that report was "absolutely not" true. "I love the guys in this locker room," Wilson said. "I would do anything [for them]. I think anytime you have an opportunity to step on this field, you need to take advantage of it."

Jets head coach Robert Saleh admitted that Wilson gave the Jets the best chance to win, so Wilson was named the starter.

Wilson responded by playing his best game of the season. He threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Jets to a 27-6 victory over the Texans.

On a rainy day at MetLife Stadium, the score was 0-0 at halftime. Wilson came out firing in the second half, leading a touchdown drive on the first drive of the second half. Wilson found Randall Cobb for the 15-yard touchdown.

Most impressive, however, was his throw on third down to set up the touchdown. Wilson threw it downfield across his body to put the Jets in scoring position.

The Jets continued to put their foot on the gas and let Wilson throw. It paid off. On the following drive, Wilson led another scoring drive to give the Jets a 14-0 lead.

With all the momentum on their side, the Jets got the ball back. Wilson scrambled for a first down, but he was hit from behind and fumbled. The Texans took advantage of the turnover and scored a touchdown, cutting the lead to 14-6.

On the next drive, Wilson responded with another great drive that ended with a touchdown throw to Breece Hall. Wilson's touchdown pass gave the Jets a 21-6 lead.

The Jets went on to win 30-6. Social media was buzzing after Wilson's dominant performance, and many national analysts came to Wilson's defense.
