BYU Unveils New Football Field Design for the Big 12

The field at Lavell Edwards Stadium will look different come September

BYU is just hours away from becoming an official member of the Big 12 conference. The weekend will be full of festivities for fans to celebrate BYU's new conference home. As part of the celebrations, the BYU football twitter account unveiled the new field design for BYU as it enters the Big 12.

BYU will wait to unveil the new design for the first conference home game against Cincinnati. Beginning with that game, the endzones and logo will be filled with paint, BYU confirmed on Twitter. The endzones will be filled with royal blue paint - the midfield logo will be filled with white paint surrounding the royal blue stretch "Y". Historically speaking, BYU has left both the midfield logo and the endzones green with the exception of a few games. It's unclear whether BYU will change the paint from royal to navy when BYU wears navy uniforms.

BYU confirmed that the painted endzones will be permanent beginning with the Cincinnati game. BYU also confirmed that it will continue to play on a natural grass field at Lavell Edwards Stadium.

The Big 12 logo will also be included in the new field design at the 25 yard lines. BYU confirmed that it made a mistake in the release, putting one of the logos at the 15 yard line. 2023 will be the first time that BYU has had a conference logo on its field since it had the Mountain West logo on the field in 2010. For a brief period of time beginning in 2011 and lasting through 2013, BYU had "Tradition", "Spirit", and "Honor" written on the field
