Five Commits Make Up a Solid Foundation for BYU's 2024 Recruiting Class

BYU's 2024 recruiting class is off to a promising start

With the exception of a few more transfer additions, BYU's 2023 recruiting class is in the books. Now the attention turns to the class of 2024. BYU has hosted dozens of recruits on campus to watch Spring camp and the Spring evaluation period is on the horizon. Today, let's check in on the 2024 recruiting class as it stands today.

As of this article, BYU has a solid foundation of five players committed in the 2024 class. Four of the five commits are in-state players and all five will likely play defense at the next level. Here are the five 2024 commits.

1. Easton Baker

Easton Baker, who preps at Stansbury High School in Tooele, Utah,  committed to BYU back in December of 2020. Since then, he has become one of the best linebackers and most physical players in the state. Baker punishes opposing ball-carriers with his physical style of play.

Since committing to BYU, Baker has drawn interest from a variety of schools and he recently received a competing offer from Washington State. Baker's aggressive style will fit BYU's new defensive scheme, so keeping him committed until signing day is a top priority.

2. Chance Harrison

Chance Harrison is the lone out-of-state commit in the 2024 class. Harrison is an athlete that plays both defensive back and wide receiver for Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, California. BYU was the first school to extend Harrison an offer last year. He visited BYU's campus for the Baylor game last season and committed shortly after the game.

Harrison's recruitment is starting to heat up. He has received competing offers from San Diego State, Washington State, Colorado State, and San Jose State in the last few months.

3. Dallin Johnson

Dallin Johnson is a local standout from Springville High School. Johnson committed to BYU in June of 2021 during an unofficial visit. Johnson plays both defensive tackle and center for Springville, but he was offered as a defensive tackle by the previous staff. Johnson recently received a competing offer from Washington State.

Johnson comes from a BYU family. His grandpa is Brent Johnson who was a kicker for BYU in 1978 and 1979 when the Cougars won back-to-back WAC championships.

4. Siosefa Brown

Siosefa Brown committed to BYU back in January. He picked BYU over competing Power Five offers from Utah, Cal, Wasington State, and Vanderbilt. Brown's recruiting profile was on a rapid trajectory when he decided to shut down his recruitment early and commit to BYU.

Brown, who received an early three-star rating from 247Sports, preps at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. Brown is a 6'5 defensive end prospect that also spent some time on offense as a wide receiver last season. His size, athleticism, and pass-rushing ability make him a perfect fit in Jay Hill's defensive scheme. It is his ability to disrupt off the edge that will make him a difference maker in Provo.

5. Adney Reid

One of the lesser known recruits in the class, Adney Reid is a linebacker/defensive end prospect. Adney is the son of former BYU tight end Gabe Reid who is currently serving as the mission president of the Australia Sydney mission. The Reid's moved to Australia in July of 2021 to begin their missionary service. Adney moved with his family to Sydney that Summer after his freshman season of high school.

Reid has been playing basketball and rugby in Australia. He held a competing scholarship offer from Utah when he committed to BYU.
