Bearcats Moderate Favorites Over Virginia Tech, Won't Host Hofstra If Team Advances

Cincinnati tips off its NIT run at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

CINCINNATI — UC enters its first-round NIT matchup against Virginia Tech as 5.5-point favorites over the Hokies. The line has bounced between five and six points since the matchup got announced on Sunday.

Cincinnati (21-11 ATS) is one of the 20 best cover teams in the country, while Va Tech has struggled against the number this season (14-19 ATS). It gets worse in this exact spot as they are 3-9 ATS on the road and 1-4 as an underdog.

The Hokies also have two road wins this season, both coming against the two worst teams in the ACC

Tie it all together, and a UC loss on Wednesday would be tough to swallow, especially after No. 1 seed Rutgers lost to Hofstra on Tuesday night. Cincinnati, unfortunately, won't host another game this coming weekend if it wins due to court maintenance conflicts at Fifth Third Arena.
