Viktor Lahkin Named AAC Freshman of the Week
CINCINNATI — Love for Lahkin!
The American Athletic Conference announced Cincinnati sophomore Viktor Lahkin is the latest AAC Freshman of the Week.
Lahkin's first career double-double against Bryant also marked career highs in points (13) and rebounds (11). The Russian export added two steals in his best performance as a Bearcat. In Wednesday's game against Miami, he went 2-for-3 from the field with four points and three offensive rebounds.
The honor marks the first freshman of the Week award for the program since Jarron Cumberland won it three times in the 2016-17 season.
Lahkin has proved to be a critical piece for the deep Bearcats. He is fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 7.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
He'll look to keep the momentum rolling in his first taste of the Crosstown Shootout this Saturday when UC battles Xavier at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
