CINCINNATI — Darrian Beavers is making the most of his final season playing football for the Bearcats, and the award circuit is taking notice.

The Butkus Award committee nominated Beavers as one of the six finalists for this year's award—given to the nation's top linebacker. Beavers is one of the anchors on this "Blackcats" defense. He's tied for second on the team with 75 tackles and is outright second on the squad with three sacks.

Beavers joined the list alongside Wisconsin's Leo Chenal, LSU's Damone Clark, Georgia's Nakobe Dean, Utah's Devin Lloyd, and Wyoming's Chad Muma.

Beavers brings as much leadership ability to the table as he does on-field ability, and that's being recognized in 2021. The fifth-year senior found a home at UC when he transferred from UConn after the 2018 season. The finalist distinction is another recognition of th magical campaign UC is having.

Close the season with two victories, and Cincinnati could have that elusive spot in the College Football Playoff.
