Cincinnati Lands Commitment From Wisconsin Edge Rusher Darian Varner
CINCINNATI — Cincinnati added a transfer commitment from former Wisconsin defensive lineman Darrian Varner. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound grad transfer has one year of eligibility remaining after transferring to Wisconsin from Temple ahead of last season.
Varner appeared in 11 games during his one season with the Wisconsin Badgers, registering five tackles, two pressures, 1.5 TFLs, and a fumble recovery in 122 total snaps. Pro Football Focus pegged Varner with a 55.8 defensive grade across 122 snaps.
He played over 800 snaps at Temple across 2022 and 2021 with a 67.8 grade in 22' and 71.1 grade in 21'. He has flashed between most of the defensive line spots across his career.
He should help with the edge depth after George Gumbs flipped to Florida.
