Richard Sherman: Coby Bryant 'Will be a Long-Time Starter' for Seattle Seahawks

The 2021 Jim Thorpe Award winner has a big chip on his shoulder heading into the NFL.

CINCINNATI — Legendary NFL cornerback Richard Sherman is a Seattle Seahawks legend, and he loved what they did in landing Coby Bryant.

The best cornerback in Seahawks history didn't understand why the 2021 Jim Thorpe Award winner fell to the 109th pick.

"I liked Coby Bryant with the Seahawks," The corner said on The Richard Sherman Podcast. "I really like that pick. I thought he would go sooner. To win a Thorpe and to go in the fourth round is just wild. Like sometimes with these assessments it's like, 'bro, what could the kid have done?' Maybe run a little faster, but the kid wins the Thorpe and goes in the fourth round. I'm sure he's incredibly disappointed in that, but I think the Seahawks got a steal.

"I think he'll be a long-time starter for them. He'll take over a corner spot that's pretty much vacant. You know they didn't re-sign D.J. Reed, Trey Brown is injured, Sidney Jones left. So they have a huge hole there and you're wondering how they will fill it. And they are obviously looking to fill it with rookies."

Sherman laid out the ideal situation that Bryant is stepping into. The pacific northwest should offer plenty of early reps in his career. Check out the full clip below.
