Report: Conference Revenue Sharing Splits Revealed From New College Football Playoff Media Contract

Cincinnati's conference is fourth in line to the dough.

CINCINNATI — The College Football Playoff Committee just finalized revenue splits for the sport's major conferences amidst a $7.8 billion extension that runs through the 2031-32 season.

Check out how it breaks down for each conference according to The Athletic:

  • 29% of media revenue annually for both the Big Ten and SEC (more than $21 million per school)
  • 17% for the ACC (around $13 million each), 15% for the Big 12 ($12 million each), and 9% for the Group of 5 conferences as a whole (around $1.8 million per school).
  • Independents get what's left, including over $12 million for Notre Dame, and the Football Championship Subdivision. There is an additional performance bonus available only to independents for making the CFP field; Notre Dame would receive an additional $6 million for making the Playoff. That helps get the Fighting Irish closer to the SEC/Big 10 payouts in years where they excel.

Cincinnati has no realistic shot of making the playoff under the new 12-team format this coming season unless they greatly outperform their 5.5 win total. Still, as Scott Satterfield builds up the program they could be in the mix for a playoff berth over the years to come in an ever-changing playoff landscape.
