Report: Big 12 Lands on Roc Nation Executive Brett Yormark as new Commissioner

The Big 12 is preparing for negotiations on a new television deal.

CINCINNATI — The Big 12 landed on a new commissioner as it prepares to welcome UC, UCF, Houston, and BYU into the conference next year. According to Sports Illustrated, the league is adding talent executive Brett Yormark to be its commissioner.

Yormark is currently the COO of Roc Nation and has worked with the talent agency alongside artists, athletes, leagues, teams, and brands. While also overseeing sponsorship, licensing, content partnerships, and brand strategy. His experience on the business side of sports, along with a massive connection pool, led the Big 12 to trust him with the reigns in the NIL era.

He will play a big role in Cincinnati's financial climate over the next decade. The Big 12 will need to redo its TV rights following the 2024-25 seasons in a new agreement that figures to be less lucrative with Texas and Oklahoma leaving the league.

Yormark is the third-straight Power Five commissioner brought in from outside of the traditional college structure. New Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff was hired away from MGM Entertainment a year after the Big Ten hired former Minnesota Viking executive Kevin Warren.

6/29 UPDATE: Yormark is officially the new Big 12 commissioner. He signed a five-year deal on Wednesday and begins on Aug. 1.
