Cincinnati Football Commit Lyviel Waters Breaks Down Why He Chose UC

Waters talks Cincinnati commitment and playing for his hometown team.

TUNNEL HILL — The Cincinnati Bearcats landed yet another commitment in the 2024 class. This time it’s local star and talented tight end prospect Lyviel Waters as a preferred walk-on.

Waters is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound tight end prospect from Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spoke with All Bearcats to break down his decision.

“I chose UC because it's home, I love the campus and the energy of game days, Coach (Kerry) Coombs is an excellent recruiter, I could afford the first year's tuition, and I have faith in my ability to win a scholarship the following year,” Waters stated.

Waters has plenty of things to bring to the program.

“I believe I can bring a smart, versatile receiving and blocking tight end who is a great and cool person in and outside of football that does his job in school and on the field,” Waters said.

The winton woods star dove into what made the hometown option so special.

Cincinnati is special to me as it's my hometown and is in my backyard,” Waters said.

Cincinnati has had many talented tight ends in the past, and that’s definitely a pitch to any interested player at the position. “I think my strong suit is that I have excellent hands, can block really well, and can run a route fairly well,” Waters said about his best attributes.

The newest Bearcat is confident he can earn a scholarship spot in 2025.
