CINCINNATI — We have news on the football and basketball recruiting fronts starting with an official visit this weekend from four-star 2023 wide receiver Malik Elzy out of Simeon (Illinois).

According to On3 consensus, Elzy is the 304th-ranked player nationally and the 44th-ranked wide receiver. He holds 26 offers and this is his second official visit after seeing what Illinois had to offer earlier in the month. On3 gives Cincinnati a 17% chance of landing Elzy, just behind Illinois (30.1%), and Notre Dame (19.9%).

Luke Fickell has built this program on physicality and that's Elzy's calling card at 6-foot-3, 198 pounds. The junior uses his frame to absolutely dominate in the open field. His yards-after-catch ability is elite and squeezes every possible inch out of a play.

Elzy's route-running also stands out as a big contributor to his four-star status. He uses a clever hesitation to start plays and has great chemistry with his QB on throw timing. Add in an advanced ability to high-point footballs for a high schooler and there's not much to complain about with Elzy. Check out his highlights here.

On the hardwood, Cincinnati offered 2024 three-star power forward Micah Smith out of Sandy Creek (Georgia).

According to 247Sports, Smith is the 84th-ranked prospect nationally and the 15th-ranked power forward. He now holds four offers from Auburn, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, and UC.

There is limited footage on Smith, but from what I can tell, he is a high-motor wing that fits the exact type of play style Wes Miller is building. He can run the floor soundly in transition and has out-of-the-gym hops to recover for blocks and be ready for alley-oops. Check out his highlights here.
