Deion Sanders on players who want to leave Colorado: "God bless them"

Deion Sanders is preparing for his second major transfer portal wave coming in two weeks. The Colorado Buffaloes coach was asked about player management going into the off-season, particularly when it comes to reshaping the roster. He didn't hold back on where certain players stood and said the conversations had already started.

"I met with a few players this past week," Sanders said in Saturday's postgame press conference. "We hope they plan on staying and some guys... You know, if they want to go, God bless them. We want the best for them. We want the best for all these young men."

Sanders and the Buffs had a rough 24 hours after the loss to Utah. Tim Brewster, who was part of Coach Prime's staff from Jackson State, resigned on Sunday morning. He was recently demoted to allow for co-offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur to come on board at an official capacity in Boulder. The news of Brewster's departure was somewhat expected after the last few weeks.

However, Colorado got some unfortunate news with 2025 four-star blue chip QB Antwann Hill Jr. decommitting from Sanders and the program. The No. 3 passer from Georgia told BuffsBeat he was mulling over all his options, and CU was still one of the top schools. It was a huge blow, considering he was involved in Coach Prime's future plans and leaves no commitments in the 2025 class after Winston Watkins Jr. dropped out as well.

The transfer portal reopens on Dec. 4, but players whose head coaches are fired can enter the portal during a 30-day window, which starts on the day of termination. Either way, Sanders and his staff are planning on a flood of new transfers over the next few weeks.
