Duke Basketball One-And-Done Settles for Contract Overseas

Duke basketball product Jabari Parker is officially taking his talents to Spain.

Former Duke basketball forward Jabari Parker, the 2014 USBWA National Freshman of the Year before getting drafted No. 2 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks, has signed with FC Barcelona in the EuroLeague.

On Monday, the club announced the move, which began to look likely last week after the 28-year-old passed a medical exam there.

Parker has not played in the NBA — or in any league, for that matter — since January 2022. That season, the oft-injured forward's second with the Boston Celtics, he saw action in only 12 games, averaging 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.3 minutes per outing before getting waived.

There's no guarantee the former heralded recruit out of Chicago will ever return to the NBA. But now, he'll at least be able to showcase what he can do on the court against solid competition in what could still be the prime of his career.

It'll mark the first time since he was a high-scoring Duke basketball sensation almost a decade ago that he has played for any team outside of the NBA.

Jabari Parker spent eight seasons in the NBA, seeing stints with six franchises: Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Celtics.

He's averaged 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in the league but hasn't played more than 13 games in a season since 2019-20.
