NoleGameday Staff Score Predictions: Florida State Seminoles vs. Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns

In this story:
Florida State (7-3, 5-3 ACC) is down to its final two games of the regular season and both contests will fall at home. The Seminoles will take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (5-5, 3-4 SBC) on Saturday afternoon before a matchup with the rival Florida Gators on the Friday night following Thanksgiving. Sitting at No. 19 in the latest College Football Playoff poll, there is truly an opportunity for this team to finish the season on a high-note.

The Ragin' Cajuns snapped a two-game losing streak last Thursday with a 36-17 victory over Georgia Southern. With that being said, the team has dropped five of its last nine games and has only compiled a 1-3 record away from home. Louisiana has yet to face an opponent or an environment like the one it'll encounter under first-year head coach Michael Desormeaux inside Doak Campbell Stadium.
With that being, the Ragin' Cajuns definitely have an opportunity to keep this game interesting. The defense has forced 21 turnovers this season - including 14 interceptions, which ranks top-10 in the country. Louisiana has also blocked four kicks and returned two punts for touchdowns. The Seminoles can't afford to overlook this team despite having to face the Gators less than a week later.

The Seminoles are playing some exceptional football right now, evidenced by a 124-22 advantage over their last three games. Florida State is simply getting healthy at the right and it has led to some dominant performances on the field as all three phases of the game are firing on all cyclinders.
Head coach Mike Norvell and the 'Noles have an opportunity to earn their eighth victory of the 2022 season against Louisiana. The number would match the total number of wins that Florida State earned during the first two years of Norvell guiding the program. The progress has been evident on and off the field.
The Ragin' Cajuns have a gritty team and it wouldn't surprise me if their defense frustrates the Seminoles at certain points of the first half. Louisiana has racked up 25 sacks and 53 tackles for loss with season while only allowing 15.2 points per game in wins. With that being said, the team hasn't played very well away from home and faces it's toughest opponent of the year in Florida State.
The 'Noles are simply too hot right now.
Season Prediction Record: 8-2
Florida State 44, Louisiana 6

I don't think Mike Norvell and Florida State overlook the Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday. The Seminoles seem to have moved on from those mistakes last season and will dial in to take care of business on Saturday afternoon. I'm expecting another dominant performance by the defense and looking forward to seeing some younger players like Byron Turner Jr., Daniel Lyons, Rodney Hill, and Julian Armella get playing time in the late quarters.
The 'Noles will be trotting out one of their healthiest rosters all season. This one is over before halftime.
Season Prediction Record: 9-1
Florida State 41, Lousiana 10

Louisiana is worse than Syracuse but better than Miami… so give me a score right in the middle of what we’ve seen the last two weeks.
Season Prediction Record: 7-3
Florida State 34, Louisiana 3

It’ll be easy for the ‘Noles to look over this game in preparation for Florida next week. However, I don’t think that kind of mindset exists in this program anymore. If you ignore a comeback loss against NC State, Mike Norvell and Florida State could very well be a two-loss team and ranked higher in the College Football Playoff Rankings. FSU takes care of business and build momentum for the Gators next week.
Season Prediction Record: 8-2
Florida State 48, Louisiana 17

The 'Noles are rolling and continue to add momentum to their 7-3 record. Louisiana is a good program in its own right but it should not be much of a contest between the two.
Season Prediction Record: 8-2

'Noles get going from the jump and win.

Per the advice of my editor, I need to shorten my score predictions.
That shouldn't be too hard with the matchup against Louisiana-Lafayette this week.
Florida State at home for the first time in weeks; the 'Noles trending upwards; and a fanbase fully supporting this team will make for quite the atmosphere.
The Seminoles will get in, get to work, and get out in time for some afternoon delight.
Season Prediction Record: 7-1
Florida State 34, Louisiana 14
CONSENSUS: Florida State (8-0)
