The chase for former Seminole Dalvin Cook remains active, as he remains an NFL free agent. Atop the odds are the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins. and New York Jets.

The Jets are one of the league's fastest-rising teams, as they've built both a young core and solid defense, and the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers builds the narrative.

With that, the Jets would be one of the more electric pairings for Cook as an up-and-coming team ready to make noise. Jets head coach Robert Saleh commented on the matter.

"You never want to say no to a great player," Saleh said of Cook. I know there’s a lot of contractual stuff that goes with it. But he is a good one.”

It's understood that Cook is still a "great player," and the biggest implication that lies is the running back conundrum. There's an argument that running backs aren't worth being paid after being franchise tagged after their rookie contract expires.

There's a level of understanding that players will need to see on this matter, as the past decade of Super Bowl-winning running backs are cheaper running backs, allowing the team to have the roster flexibility to bring in more talent.

Running backs still having value can be proven by Saleh's comments on Cook, and the only holdup being contract negotiations adds more questions to the market's current value.

The Seminole product is coming off four straight Pro Bowl selections and one of the healthier seasons of his career. It wouldn't be a surprise to see a team hoping to contend for a Super Bowl look to acquire his services.
