WATCH: Former FSU LB Reggie Northrup Stays Undefeated In MMA Career With Flying Knee

In this story:
It's safe to say that there aren't many professional athletes like Reggie Northrup. Since going undrafted out of Florida State in 2016, Northrup has been fleshing out a dual-career in pro football and in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). He's been successful in both avenues, to say the least.

On Friday night, Northrup returned to the Octagon after playing football in the spring. The 'Black Dragon' matched up with Cody Herbert in his second ever professional fight at Gamebred Bareknucle 5. The league was founded by legendary UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal.
This ended up being his toughest bout yet as he went the distance with Herbert. Northrup ended up putting out a much-higher volume and landed a couple of big shots, including a flying knee that gave him momentum in the final round.
After going to the scoreboards for a decision, Northrup ended up coming as the unanimous victory, keeping his undefeated career intact. He's now 7-0 overall and 2-0 in professional fights.

Northrup is slowly moving up the MMA ranks with his goal being to eventually sign with the UFC. His fight against Herbert was the first bout that he hasn't ended by TKO or submission.
"It's definitely a serious task trying to manage being a professional athlete in two different sports. It all has something to do with the person, individually, I'm kind of missing a couple of screws, in a good way though," Northrup said previously on the DC and RC show. "Real ambitious, my plan is to be one of the baddest athletes to ever walk the planet, join that class of gentlemen that's in our history as far as sports."
The 29-year-old is coming off a stint in the XFL with the D.C. Defenders. He recorded 48 tackles and one sack in eight starts as the Defenders reached the championship game. In his eight years since leaving Florida State, he's played in five different professional leagues (NFL, CFL, AAF, XFL, USFL) and that doesn't include his second stint in the XFL.
