Georgia Football Freshmen to Watch on Defense for GDay

Georgia football true freshmen fans will want to be paying attention to on Saturday for the Bulldogs' spring scrimmage.

College football fans will get their first look at the 2024 Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday during their annual spring scrimmage. Kirby Smart and his program came just short of another trip to the college football playoffs, but he is bringing back another loaded roster to get another shot at it.

Georgia returning quite a few starters on both sides of the ball this season but that won’t keep some of the freshmen from seeing playing time. So with that being said, here are a few freshmen on defense that fans need to be watching on Saturday.

Ellis Robinson, DB

Robinson was a headliner in a loaded 2024 recruiting class for the Bulldogs and rightfully so. Georgia returns several notable players at corner this season in the former of Daylen Everrette, Daniel Harris and Julian Humphrey, but Robinson has already inserted himself into the mix for potential playing time this fall. Robinson’s frame sticks out immediately when he steps onto the field and fits the mold of what Georgia seeks in a defensive back. Special is an understatement when discussing Robinson as a player and he will be a fun watch for fans to pay attention to this weekend.

KJ Bolden, S

Bolden was another big time player that Georgia landed at the last minute in the 2024 recruiting class. The Bulldogs lost both Javon Bullard and Tykee Smith to the NFL draft this offseason, which created an immediate need at the other safety position alongside Malaki Starks, who will not be playing on Saturday due to having shoulder surgery once the 2023 season ended. It can be expected that Bolden will get a good chunk of playing time on Saturday, and based on what has been said of the true freshman so far this spring, he will be an exciting watch and an important player to pay attention to.

Freshmen Linebackers

Justin Williams, Chris Cole and Kristopher Jones were the three linebackers Georgia took in the last class and all three have been raved about. Their size and physique stick out on a field filled with SEC football players. With Smael Mondon being held out this spring due to a foot injury, it opens the door for the three freshmen to get a lot of reps on Saturday. Jones has been battling back from knee surgery that occurred during his final high school season which leaves him questionable for this weekend, but there will still be plenty to watch from that position group. Georgia has knack for recruiting some freaks at the position, and the three they brought in this offseason are no exception to that.
