Throughout his tenure as the Georgia Bulldogs' head coach, Kirby Smart has accomplished a litany of feats and has brought his alma mater to heights that seemed unimaginable by even the most optimistic of Georgia fans. With multiple conference titles, national championships, and first-round draft picks, the Bulldogs coach has a lot to be proud of.

But Smart's proudest accomplishment may come as a surprise to many. In an interview with ESPN's Chris Low, the Bulldogs head coach stated that he believes his proudest accomplishment wasn't back-to-back national titles, defeating the great Nick Saban, or even three straight undefeated regular seasons.

"I was brought here to win championships, but the thing I'm proudest of has been the consistency. I look back on year one [2016] as a failure and not the standard, but every year after that we've been right there. Nobody else over that span can say they've finished in the top seven at the very end for seven straight years. You can't find it, not even at Alabama. We missed the damn playoff three times by being No. 5 or No. 6, so those are missed at-bats we would have had in this 12-team playoff. We've been relevant every year but that first one. But I want more than relevance. I want dominance, and we've been more dominant in the last three years. What I don't want are the ebbs and flows or the one-hit wonders you see out there. I don't want any player to leave Georgia without a championship."

As one of the most dominant teams since the turn of the century, Smart has made it clear that being the model of consistency amongst college programs is not the standard he is holding his team to. In fact, he expects much more.

The Bulldogs will look to continue their streak of dominance this season when they take on the Clemson Tigers in Atlanta during week one of the 2024 season. It will be the first matchup between these two teams since the 2021 season when Georgia defeated the Tigers 10-3.
