Travon Walker Launches Foundation, Gives Back to Alma Mater

In this story:
The Georgia football program has done an outstanding job when it comes to developing NFL-caliber talent over the past few years. The Bulldogs have had eight first-round picks in the last two years. Former defensive lineman Travon Walker was one of them as he was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the first overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Being picked at that slot comes with a massive paycheck, and Walker has elected to use some of his funds to help give back to a good cause.
The former Bulldog is from Thomaston, Georgia, and attended Upson-Lee high school. There he was not only a big-time star on the football field but an exceptional basketball player as well. While it has been quite some time now since Walker played sports at his alma mater, he hasn't forgotten where he came from. This past weekend, Walker launched "The Travon Walker Foundation" which will help support Upson-Lee high school's athletic departments as well as the University of Georgia as well.
Walker went back to his hometown to kick start the foundation and presented five checks worth $44,000 each. Those checks will be given to both the University of Georgia and Upson-Lee's athletic department. Three of the checks will go to his former high school's football, baseball, and track and field programs.
Congratulations to @44Ytw on launching @travonwalkerfdn. We're proud to see you continue to shine as a leader both in the community and on the field. #GoDawgs | #blessup44 pic.twitter.com/Yn9ccLHhbS

This is not the first time that Walker has extended his gratitude to his hometown community. Last Thanksgiving, the star football player was back in town handing out turkeys to families in the area.
Walker is about to enter his second year in the professional football league. During his rookie season, the former first-round pick tallied five tackles for loss, 49 total tackles, and an interception. A very productive first year in the league for the Georgia native and he will look to continue his success at the professional level in the coming years.
