Collegiate Baseball announced Wednesday, June 7th, that Georgia baseball standout, Charlie Condon, was named the publication 2023 Freshman Hitter of The Year and named to their Freshman All-American team

Condon solidified himself as one of the best players in all of the SEC in his freshman season. On top of setting the SEC single-season home run record, the first baseman was named the SEC Freshman of The Year. Posting an exceptional stat line that saw him capture the triple-crown for the Bulldogs, Condon hit a .386 batting average, 25 home runs, 67 runs batted in, and a whopping .800 slugging percentage.

Condon joins a short list of Diamond Dawgs to win a national award for their performance on the diamond. The Marietta, Ga. native joins outfielder Ron Wenrich (1985 Baseball America Freshman of The Year), two-way player Derek Lilliquist (1987 Baseball America Pitcher of The Year), pitcher Joshua Fields (2008 NCBWA Stopper of The Year), two-way standout Aaron Schunk (2019 John Olerud Two-Way Player of The Year Award).

On top of these two recognitions, Condon was also a semi-finalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy. The 6' 6" redshirt freshman also received an invite to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team summer training camp and compete for a spot on their 26-man roster. Condon plans to play for the Falmouth Commodores (Mass.) in the Cape Cod Summer League that opens June 10th.

The Diamond Dawgs recently added new leadership to take the reigns of their program, and Condon will help lead a new-look program heading into the 2024 season.
