Nakobe Dean Expected to Miss Multiple Weeks Due to Injury

In this story:
The NFL football season officially kicked off this last weekend, and Georgia has a litany of players spread across the league thanks to them putting 25 players in the last two NFL draft classes. Former Georgia linebacker Nakobe Dean was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2022 draft, and he has already suffered a setback to start his second year in the league.
Dean is expected to miss multiple weeks due to an ankle injury that he suffered during the Eagles' win against the New England Patriots on Sunday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The good news, however, is that Dean's injury will not require surgery and that he is expected to make a return with plenty of 'time left in the season.
In 2021, Dean appeared in 2021 games for the Eagles as a rookie and accumulated 13 tackles and a tackle for loss during his team's Super Bowl run. Many were intrigued to see Dean take a step forward in his second season as a professional, as he was shining on the field during preseason games and looked to be poised for a breakout season. That still very well could happen for the former Bulldog, it will just be a little bit delayed.
Dean was just one of many former Bulldogs that the Eagles have drafted over the last two seasons, as several of his former teammates also got snatched up by the Eagles in the draft. Jordan Davis, Jalen Carter, Kelee Ringo, and Nolan Smith were all drafted by the Eagles in the last two draft classes. Even former Georgia running back D'Andre Swift was traded to the Eagles during the 2023 NFL draft.
Dean was expected to be a major contributor for the Eagles on defense this year, but due to his recent injury, fans will have to wait a few weeks before they get to see how impactful the former Georgia player will be on the Eagles' already loaded defense.
