Georgia prospect Mason Short Warms up for a contest

Where Will 2025 Four-Star Mason Short Commit?

Where will 2025 four-star offensive lineman Mason Short commit to on Thursday between Ohio State, Kentucky, Clemson and Georgia football?

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to have two of their top prospects in the 2025 recruiting class come off the board this week as quarterback Matt Zollers and offensive lineman Mason Short are both committing on April 5th. Georgia is in the mix for both of them so as we near their decision date, where can fans expect Short to commit to on Thursday?

Short is rated as the eighth-best interior lineman, the 25th-best player in the state of Georgia and 183rd overall in the class, according to 247 sports composite rankings. He has narrowed his decision down to Georgia, Kentucky, Clemson and Ohio State.

He recently took a visit to Clemson the weekend of March 14th, but was also on campus at Georgia just a couple of days later, according to Shorts’ social media. Short initially committed to Alabama back in April of last year but later decommitted following the news of Nick Saban’s retirement. The Crimson Tide were not included in Short’s top four schools.

The Bulldogs currently have five players committed for the 2025 recruiting class, but not a single one of them is an offensive lineman. As this recruitment comes down to the wire, Clemson and Georgia appear to be the only two that truly remain in the mix.

That being said, it appears that Georgia is the team to beat in this one. Following his decommitment from Alabama, head coach Kirby Smart made the trip down to Shorts’ high school for a visit the same day the news broke. It would appear that Georgia holds the edge in this one, but Short has made the trip up to Clemson a couple of times since January. With Ohio State also being in the mix, you can’t ever count them out either considering they have closed deals recently on the recruiting trail.

Offensive line coach Stacy Searels helped the program land a very solid class in 2024 at the position. Short, who plays high school football at Evans High School in Evans, Georgia, would be a great addition to the class and a great start to yet another impressive class for Coach Searels.
