NCAA Tournament Selection Sunday live updates: Tracking Gonzaga's seed, bracket placement

The best postseason tournament in sports is finally here.

The entire 2024 NCAA Tournament men's college basketball bracket will be revealed on Selection Sunday starting at 3 p.m. PST on CBS. After 32 teams punched their tickets to the Big Dance during conference tournament week, another 36 teams will receive at-large bids from the tournament's selection committee. 

The Gonzaga Bulldogs (25-7, 14-2 WCC) have appeared in the last 24 NCAA Tournaments, the second-longest active streak behind Michigan State (25 consecutive appearances). The Zags have won at least one game in the Big Dance since they lost to Stephen Curry and 7-seed Davidson in 2008.

WEST REGION

3:38 pm PST update: Saint Mary's will play in the Spokane Arena as a 5-seed and take on 12-seed Grand Canyon. Alabama, the region's 6-seed, faces 13-seed Charleston. Michigan State appears in its 26th-straight NCAA Tournament as an 9-seed this season and faces 8-seed Mississippi State.

3:36 pm PST update: North Carolina is the final No. 1 seed and will face either Howard or Wagner in the first round. Arizona is the region's No. 2 seed and will face 15-seed Long Beach State, setting up a matchup of former Gonzaga coaches in Tommy Lloyd and Dan Monson. Baylor is a No. 3 seed and will face 14-seed Colgate, while 6-seed Clemson and 11-seed New Mexico square off in Memphis.

MIDWEST REGION

3:33 pm PST update: Tennessee is the No. 2 seed in the Midwest and will face 15-seed Saint Peter's. Texas will take on either Virginia or Colorado State in the first round. Creighton is the 3-seed and will play 14-seed Akron, with the winner facing 6-seed South Carolina or Pac-12 champion Oregon as an 11-seed.

3:22 pm PST update: Zach Edey and Purdue are the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region, will face either Montana State or Grambling in the first round. Gonzaga earned a 5-seed and will face 12-seed McNeese State in Salt Lake City on Thursday. The winner will face either 4-seed Kansas or 13-seed Samford in the second round. Utah State is on the 8-seed line and will face 9-seed TCU.

SOUTH REGION

3:14 pm PST update: Marquette is the No. 2 seed in the South, will face 15-seed Western Kentucky in the first round. Colorado and Boise State play in a First Four matchup, with the winner taking on 7-seed Florida. Kentucky is a 3-seed and will play 14-seed Oakland in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Texas Tech earned a 6-seed and will play 11-seed NC State, fresh off an ACC Tournament title. 

3:11 pm PST update: Houston is the No. 1 seed in the South and will face 16-seed Longwood in Memphis, Tennessee. Nebraska is an 8-seed and will face 9-seed Texas A&M in the first round. Wisconsin is on the 5-seed line and will square off against 12-seed James Madison, while 4-seed Duke is set to face 13-seed Vermont, the America East champions.

EAST REGION

3:06 pm PST update: Iowa State, fresh off a Big 12 Tournament title, is the No. 2 seed in the East and will take on 15-seed South Dakota State in the first round. Illinois won the Big Ten Tournament earlier Sunday to earn a spot on the 3-seed line and will play 14-seed Morehead State in Omaha, Nebraska. BYU is a 6-seed and play 11-seed Duquesne. Washington State is in the Big Dance for the first time since 2008 and will play 10-seed Drake.

3:02 pm PST update: No surprise, the reigning national champion UConn Huskies are the No. 1 overall seed in the East Region. The Big East Tournament champions will take on 16-seed Stetson out of the ASUN. Florida Atlantic earned an 8-seed and will play 9-seed Northwestern. San Diego State will return to Spokane as a 5-seed and play 12-seed UAB in the Spokane Arena. Auburn earned a 6-seed and will take on 13-seed Yale in the Spokane Arena. 

MIDWEST REGION UPDATES

1:55 p.m.: The latest bracket predictions from the two leading experts - ESPN's Joe Lunardi and CBS Sports' Jerry Palm - have Gonzaga landing a No. 7 seed in the Midwest Region, and being placed in either Omaha, Nebraska or Charlotte, North Carolina for the first two rounds. Stay tuned.
