2025 Forward Aleks Alston Taking Unofficial Visit to Indiana

Coach Mike Woodson and the Indiana basketball staff will host an unofficial visit for class of 2025 forward Aleks Alston, who attends Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Ill.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A busy recruiting month continues for coach Mike Woodson and the Indiana basketball staff.

Aleks Alston is one of three class of 2025 prospects that has scheduled an unofficial visit to Bloomington this weekend. Along with Alston, Indiana will host unofficial visits for in-state recruits Trent Sisley and Azavier Robinson.

Alston attends Kenwood Academy in Chicago, Ill. and plays for the Mac Irvin Fire AAU team on the Nike EYBL circuit. Alston is considered a four-star power forward by all major recruiting sites. He's ranked No. 60 in the nation by Rivals, No. 73 by On3 and No. 94 by 247 Sports.

At the 2023 Nike Elite 100 camp, Alston measured at 6-foot-7.5 without shoes and 203 pounds, according to a source with Nike EYBL tracking data.

On April 25, Alston announced he received a scholarship offer from Indiana head coach Mike Woodson and associate head coach Yasir Rosemond. Along with Indiana, Alston has offers from Arizona State, California, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Oregon and Tulsa.

Despite being listed as a power forward, Alston does not operate as a traditional post-up big. His game extends to the whole floor, as he can knock down 3-point shots, bring the ball up the floor and attack off the dribble. And at 6-foot-9 with long arms, he's able to shoot over most defenders.

During his sophomore season, Alston played 14 games for Kenwood Academy and averaged 8.9 points on 47 percent shooting, along with 3.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.9 blocks per game, according to Max Preps. Kenwood's top two leading scorers from the 2022-23 season were seniors, so Alston should have a chance to play a bigger role as a junior.

In 21 games with the U16 Mac Irvin Fire team, Alston averaged 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and shot 37.3 percent from 3-point range on 5.6 attempts per game, according to a source with Nike EYBL tracking data.

The Hoosiers currently do not have any commitments in the class of 2024 or 2025.
