2026 Small Forward Jalen Montonati Taking Unofficial Visit To Indiana

Jalen Montonati is a consensus top-20 player in the class of 2026 out of Owasso, Okla., and he's taking an unofficial visit to Indiana this weekend.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana is set to host one of the top-ranked players in the class of 2026.

Jalen Montonati, 6-foot-7 small forward, will take an unofficial visit to Indiana over the weekend, as first reported by Derek Murray. The Hoosiers play Northwestern on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Montonati is on the border of four and five-star status, depending on recruiting services. He's ranked as high as No. 9 in the nation by Rivals, No. 11 by 247Sports and ESPN, and No. 16 by On3.

Currently a sophomore, Montonati attends Owasso High School near Tulsa, Okla. Owasso has a 20-3 record and recently became District 6A-3 champions. Montonati is the team's leading scorer at 25.4 points per game on 38% 3-point shooting, according to MaxPreps.

He also holds offers from Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas and Tulsa.

Last summer, Montonati played for the AAU team MOKAN on the Nike EYBL 15U Circuit and averaged 18.3 points on 46.6% 3-point shooting during the regular season. He was also selected to the USA Basketball U16 team that won the gold medal in the FIBA Americas Championships. Playing 13.6 minutes per game, he averaged 7.2 points and shot 40.9% on 3-point attempts.

“I’m a three-level scorer, and I’d like to call myself one of the better shooters in my class in 2026,” Montonati told On3. “I can play the one through the five, and I’m an active defender. Since this summer, I’ve improved my ball handling; I feel more confident with the ball in my hands, making plays.

Montonati comes from a basketball background. His father, Brian, played at Oklahoma State from 1997-2000. As a 6-foot-9 senior, he averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and earned All-Big 12 honors.

Indiana does not currently have any commitments in the class of 2026 or 2025, though the vast majority of players in those classes remain uncommitted. Coach Mike Woodson's lone commitment in the class of 2024 is five-star small forward Liam McNeeley from Montverde Academy.

Owasso's Jalen Montonati (1) shoots a three during a boys high school basketball semifinals game in the state tournament between Owasso and Broken Arrow at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla., on Friday, March 10, 2023.
