Former Hoosier Grace Berger Scores Career High for Indiana Fever

WNBA rookie Grace Berger scored a career high for the Indiana Fever in an overtime loss to Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty. Berger played for the Indiana Hoosiers from 2019-23 under head coach Teri Moren and was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft.

Once a legend for the Indiana Hoosiers, Grace Berger is now building her legacy with the Indiana Fever.

She scored a career-high 15 points in the Fever's 95-87 overtime loss to Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty on Wednesday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind. Berger also recorded seven rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes of play.

Berger was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever. Her teammate and the team's leading scorer in the game, Aliyah Boston, was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft after four years playing for coach Dawn Staley at South Carolina.

In her five seasons in Bloomington, Berger became the all-time winningest player in school history with 118 career wins, and played in a program-record 148 games. She scored 1,841 career points, and was named to the All-Big Ten First Team in three consecutive seasons from 2021-23.

Berger's previous WNBA career high came in the Fever's previous game, when Berger scored five points in a 77-76 loss to the Dallas Wings.

Berger was not the most efficient scorer in her 15-point outing, though, as she shot 5-for-16 from the field, 1-for-3 from three and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.

However, the Fever benefitted greatly from her aggression and nearly pulled off the upset against the Liberty, a team that currently holds the second-best record in the WNBA at 14-4, trailing only the Las Vegas Aces. Today's loss dropped the Fever to 5-15, placing Berger's squad in 10th place out of 12 WNBA teams.

The Fever play next on Wednesday, when they travel to the nation's capital to take on Elena Della Donne and the Washington Mystics.
