Grace Berger to Potentially Suit Up for First Game With Indiana Fever on May 19

Former Indiana women's basketball guard Grace Berger will potentially suit up for the first time as an Indiana Fever player on May 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse if she makes the final roster cut.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Former Indiana women's basketball guard Grace Berger could potentially play in her first regular season game for the Indiana Fever on May 19.

This all happened so fast as Berger was just selected in the first round of the 2023 WNBA draft as the No. 7 overall pick on Monday, April 10. Since then, Berger has been in training camp fighting for one of twelve spots on the Fever's roster.

The Fever currently has 17 players on its roster ahead of the preseason that starts Sunday, May 7. With five players destined to get cut, head coach Christie Sides said in a press conference that training camp is going to be competitive and tough.

The Fever will face the Chicago Sky in Chicago on May 7 as its first preseason game before heading back home to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for its second and final preseason game versus the Dallas Wings just six days later.

Final roster cuts will be made on May 18 as the regular season officially begins on May 19. At home, the Fever will take on the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. ET.

The Indiana women's basketball program is encouraged Berger will make the final cut and is inviting Hoosier fans out to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first regular season game to cheer on the program's former point guard in a special group offer

At Indiana, Berger scored 1,841 points in five seasons and shot 45.2 percent from the field. In videos of her drills at training camp, Berger is already showcasing her famous midrange jumper as she hopes to make it onto the list of the top 12 players for the Fever.
