Indiana Climbs Associated Press Top-25 Poll; Four Teams Receive No. 1 Votes

In this week's Associated Press Top-25 college basketball poll, Indiana moved up to No. 18 after defeating No. 1 Purdue on Saturday. The Boilermakers held on to the top spot, but Houston, Alabama and Arizona also received votes for the No. 1 ranking. Rutgers jumped into the rankings this week, setting up a top-25 matchup at Indiana on Tuesday.

Indiana rose three spots to No. 18 in Monday's Associated Press Top-25 Poll.

The Hoosiers picked up their biggest win of the season on Saturday, taking down No. 1 Purdue 79-74 at Assembly Hall. Trayce Jackson-Davis continued his All-American play with 25 points, and Jalen Hood-Schifino scored 16 points and a clutch layup in the final minute.

Indiana has appeared in 11 of the 14 AP top-25 polls this season, peaking at No. 10 on Nov. 28. The Hoosiers are ranked for a second consecutive week after dropping out for three weeks following losses to Iowa, Northwestern and Penn State. 

Around the Big Ten, Purdue hung on to the No. 1 spot despite Houston, Alabama and Arizona also receiving first-place votes. The Boilermakers are tied for the nation's best record at 22-2 and still hold a commanding lead in the Big Ten at 11-2.

Rutgers jumped into the top 25 for the second time this season following home wins over Minnesota and Michigan State this week. The Scarlet Knights have won five of their last seven games heading into a top-25 matchup at No. 18 Indiana on Tuesday. Illinois, Maryland, Iowa and Northwestern received votes this week, but remain on the outside looking in.

As for Indiana's non-conference opponents, Arizona inched up one spot to No. 4 after extending its winning streak to six games with home wins over Oregon and Oregon State. Kansas dropped one spot to No. 9 after a 15-point loss at Iowa State on Saturday. The Jayhawks have now lost four of their last six games. Xavier came in at No. 13, rising three spots following home victories over Providence and Saint John's.
