Indiana Women's Basketball: Sydney Parrish Makes Appearance on Kelly Clarkson Show

Thursday morning, Indiana women's basketball guard Sydney Parrish was featured on The Kelly Clarkson Show representing all Hoosiers in the Snack Bracket.

Thursday morning, Indiana women's basketball guard Sydney Parrish represented all Hoosiers on The Kelly Clarkson Show as a part of Clarkson's Snack Bracket.

Mirroring the March Madness NCAA Tournament, each day two regional foods go head to head in a taste test competition where Clarkson chooses which snack will advance for a shot to win the Final Fork trophy.

From Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, Parrish virtually appeared on the show to talk about the Hoosier cream pie and why it deserved to win over Connecticut's steam cheeseburger, also known as the steamer.

"Well first of all, it looks amazing," Parrish said. "Second of all, I'm from Indiana. I've played for Indiana University. Growing up in Indiana and growing up with the sugar cream pie, it is amazing. It is a close family friend recipe, and you can get burgers anywhere, so having this special pie is just very, very delicious and always hits the spot."

Clarkson said she loved the slight shade at the burger availability and said she loves competitive people.

"That is a really good piece of pie," Clarkson said. "I'm just saying."

Representing the UConn Huskies was graduate student forward Dorka Juhász and graduate student guard/forward Lou Lopez Sénéchal.

"We know burgers are a big thing here," Lopez Sénéchal said. "Everyone likes burgers. It's very filling, and I think that it's one of the best meals in America."

"All of our fans are coming to the game, and they're grabbing a beer and they're grabbing this burger, and it's just so tasteful," Juhász said. "It might seem weird to call a burger 'steamer', but it's just very accessible, and...when you think of America, burger is what comes to your mind first."

Clarkson said she was shocked she didn't pick the dessert because it's delicious, but she just had to choose the steamer to advance.
