BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana athletics announced on Tuesday that it is introducing mobile parking passes for the 2023 football season, and that general admission grass lots south of Memorial Stadium will now utilize "zipper" style parking.

The athletic department also released five steps for how to acquire and use the mobile parking pass during the 2023 season.

The five steps are as follows:

  1. On your mobile phone, open the email sent from IUTICKET@INDIANA.EDU, that reads, "Here are your Mobile Tickets from the Indiana Hoosiers," in the email's subject line.
  2. There will be a tab that reads, "Click here for your tickets." Under that tab in the email, click "Parking — Event."
  3. Your mobile parking pass will then appear. Save that to your mobile wallet (Apple Wallet for IPhone users, G Pay Save for Android users).
  4. After adding your mobile pass to your phone's mobile wallet, it should be ready to be scanned on game day at Memorial Stadium.
  5. Upon arrival, fans should have their parking pass pulled up on their phone, which will be scanned by the lot attendant upon entry.

The announcement from the IU athletic department also said that mobile parking passes should be saved prior to arriving at the game, not while arriving, and clarified that mobile passes cannot be printed.

The "zipper" parking style Indiana will now employ in the grass lots south of Memorial Stadium might sound complicated, but all it means is that vehicles will be parked from the front of the lot to the back in the order that they arrive.

"Upon entry to the general admission grass lots, parking attendants will direct each vehicle to the next available parking space," the IU athletics department wrote in its announcement. "The lots will be filled from the front of the lot nearest the stadium to the back of the lot in the order the cars arrive, utilizing every available parking spot. This policy replaces the previous practice of allowing cars to park in any available parking spot upon arrival."

"With this change, cars that want to park next to each other in general admission grass lots will need to arrive at the same time."

The announcement said that the change to zipper parking is exclusive to the general admission grass lots.

Parking garages, paved parking lots and reserved grass parking lots will still allow parking permit holders to use any available space.
