BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The young men wearing black jerseys on Saturday inside Memorial Stadium weren't the only Hoosiers who played football this weekend.

Several former Indiana football players took to the field in the NFL during the second week of the season.

Here's a recap of what all eight former Indiana Hoosiers on active NFL rosters did:

Peyton Hendershot

The former Indiana football tight end has had two decently successful rookie campaign with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022. However, through the first two weeks of the 2023 season, Peyton Hendershot had yet to record a single reception for the team.

That changed in Week 3, as the second-year tight end was targeted by quarterback Dak Prescott twice, and hauled in a three-yard pass during the Cowboys' 28-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Hendershot recorded 11 receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns during his rookie season, and he also had a rushing touchdown in 2022 as well.

Dallas plays its next game on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 4:25 p.m. ET, when the Cowboys host the New England Patriots.

Ian Thomas

Former Hoosier Ian Thomas is mainly a blocking tight end for the Carolina Panthers. However, on Sunday, he too recorded his first catch of the season, ending up on the receiving end of an eight-yard pass from Andy Dalton.

Thomas played 23 snaps in total during the Panthers' 37-27 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, 10 of which were taken on special teams kick coverage.

The Panthers play the Minnesota Vikings in Carolina in Week 4 at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 1.

Raheem Layne

The last of the former Indiana football players who recorded their first stat of the season in Week 3, Raheem Layne had two tackles in the Los Angeles Chargers' win over the Vikings.

Layne played 14 snaps in total, two of which were taken at slot corner, and 12 of which were taken on special teams, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Layne and the Chargers play their next game on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET., when they host a division rival in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Micah McFadden

Micah McFadden has by far the best performance of any Indiana football player in the NFL during Week 3.

He finished as the New York Giants' team leader in tackles for the second time in three games following the Thursday Night Football game.

Received Snaps, But No Stats Recorded

  • Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Tennessee Titans — 49 snaps played, per PFF.
  • Cam Jones, LB, Kansas City Chiefs — 16 snaps played, per PFF.
  • Dan Feeney, OL, Chicago Bears — 2 snaps played, per PFF.

It's pretty shocking to see Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in this section. Aside from McFadden, he's the most established Indiana alum in the NFL. Yet, the talented wideout did not receive a single target in the Tennessee Titans' 27-3 loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Here's when and who each of these three former Hoosiers will be playing in Week 4 of the NFL season:

  • Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans, Sunday, Oct. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets, Sunday, Oct. 1, 8:20 p.m. ET.
  • Denver Broncos at Cleveland Browns, Sunday, Oct. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET

Zero Snaps Played, On Active Rosters for NFL Teams

  • Caleb Jones, OL, Green Bay Packers

Three weeks in, and the former Indiana offensive lineman Caleb Jones does not yet have a snap for the 2-1 Green Bay Packers. Here's when they play next:

  • Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers, Thursday, Sept. 28, 8:15 p.m. ET
