Cooper Flagg Reclassifies to 2024, Eligible for 2025 NBA Draft

Cooper Flagg, a five-star prospect who plays at Montverde Academy alongside Indiana recruiting targets Liam McNeeley and Derik Queen, reclassified from the class of 2025 to the class of 2024 on Friday. Flagg is considered one of the best prospects in recent high school basketball history.

Cooper Flagg is one of the greatest players in the recent history of high school basketball, and on Friday he reclassified from the 2025 class to 2024.

Flagg was originally rated as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2025 class, trailing only Cam Boozer, and in all likelihood he will now overtake Dylan Harper for the No. 1 ranking in the class of 2024.

Indiana men's basketball assistant coaches for Mike Woodson were spotted watching Flagg court-side at Nike EYBL Peach Jam last month. Aside from that, there's been no report indicating that Woodson and IU are actively pursuing the generational prospect, who does not hold a scholarship offer from Indiana, though it's well known that every high-profile college basketball program wants his commitment.

Currently, the two favorites to land the services of Flagg at the next level are Duke and the G-League Ignite team. Flagg is almost assuredly going to be a one-and-done prospect, regardless of where he plays.

One reason Indiana fans can hold out hope that the Hoosiers will land Flagg, though, is that he plays for Montverde Academy. Woodson already landed Jalen Hood-Schifino and Malik Reneau from the legendary high school basketball powerhouse in the class of 2022, and they're heavily recruiting some of Flagg's teammates.

Flagg is now in the the same recruiting class as 2024 five-star recruits Liam McNeeley and Derik Queen, both of whom are teammates with Flagg at Montverde Academy. Indiana is one of two favorite to land both prospects, likely battling against Texas for McNeeley's commitment, and battling against Big Ten rival Maryland to land Queen. McNeeley and Queen are scheduled to visit Indiana together in September.

Indiana is also recruiting other teammates of Flagg's on Montverde in Asa Newell and Curtis Givens.

Flagg plays for the AAU team Maine United, and he's originally from Newport, Maine, the same home state as current Indiana women's basketball star center Mackenzie Holmes. Holmes played for the Maine Firecrackers back on the AAU circuit, and she's originally from Gorham, Maine. Maine is not known for producing a wealth of basketball talent, but with Flagg and Holmes, they've done just that in the past few years.
