Game Primer: How to Watch, Key Players and Important Information for Texas at Kansas

It's Senior Night for the Kansas Jayhawks Women's Basketball team, and they host the Texas Longhorns, whom they've already upset once. Here is everything you need to know to be ready for the game.

The dream of winning the conference title is over, but the Kansas Jayhawks still have a lot to play for. With games against the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners, two teams in the most recent release of the selection committee's Top-16, still on the schedule, the Jayhawks still have a chance to greatly increase their seeding.

But up first is a rematch against the Texas Longhorns, a squad that the Jayhawks defeated in overtime down in Austin earlier this season. A lot has changed for both of these teams, but Kansas is looking to get back on track and prove that the win in Austin wasn't a fluke.

The Kansas Jayhawks received a single vote in the AP poll, but currently unranked in both polls. The Longhorns are #9 in the AP poll and #10 in the Coaches poll.

Texas leads the all-time series 31-12, including an 16-6 record in Lawrence. The Jayhawks won the last meeting earlier this season and two of the last 4. The Jayhawks last win in Lawrence was on Feb. 15, 2020.

Key Players

Kansas

Holly Kersgieter #13 (G): She made clutch plays down the stretch in this game, both in the point totals (19 points) and with her quick hands (5 steals). The Jayhawks will need her to be equally effective tonight.

Taiyanna Jackson #1 (C): While her 9 points were valuable in the last meeting, her 15 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 blocks were much more impactful. In Kansas wins this season, she has made her presence known in the post, and that will need to continue

Aniya Thomas #5 (G): The way Texas played her the last time around led to a lot of open shot opportunities, and she wasn't able to knock many of them down. Her 11 points on 13 shots will need to improve if she gets that many opportunities again.

Texas

Joanne Allen-Taylor #12 (G): She scored 18 against the Jayhawks in Austin, and it could have been a lot more if she had made more than two of her 10 3-point attempts.

Lauren Ebo #1 (C): She only got 6 rebounds in the last game, and she didn't contribute much in terms of point totals. But if she can keep Taiyanna Jackson in check, that will go a long way to keeping the Longhorns in the game.

Rori Harmon #3 (G): She didn't score much in the last meeting, but she was the leading rebounder for the Longhorns.

Fun Facts

The Jayhawks are looking are looking to sweep Texas for the first time since the 2011-12 season.
