In this story:

The Kansas Jayhawks have weathered every storm thrown at them, with two tune-up games followed by a huge test in the Champions Classic. Up next is three days of games in Hawaii for the Maui Invitational. The Jayhawks get a bit of a tuneup again, as they are slated to face off against host Chaminade. Will the absence of KJ Adams make a noticeable difference, or will Kansas still run wild in their first game of the tournament?

KU is getting ready to play cupcake number three, this time in Honolulu. There’s not much analysis needed here (we can save that for later in the tournament when the big boys face off against each other) but giving the ball to Hunter as many times as necessary seems like a decent plan. Can Kansas finally break 100? Maybe, but I’ll go with a number KU fans are acquainted with.

Kansas 99, Chaminade 60.

Chaminade has three players on its roster listed at 6-foot-9. That’s decent size at the Division II level, but that’s not going to be enough to slow down Hunter Dickinson. Thus, for me, the game plan is pretty simple: Get the ball to the big man inside. With K.J. Adams likely out, or at least extremely limited, plus the still-concerning quality of play at the 2, there should be a lot of opportunities for other players to step up and build some momentum after struggling last time out against Kentucky (you know the guys I’m referring to). In the end, this should be a pretty easy win for the Jayhawks and a decent warmup for the semifinals.

Kansas 90, Chaminade 61.

I'm normally one of those guys that complains about having to play Chaminade in the opening game, as it keeps Kansas from getting a chance to play a quality opponent instead. But I don't expect KJ Adams to play in this game, which is completely understandable. With the matchup, Kansas shouldn't really miss him that much in this game. Instead, this will give Kansas some time to test out some additional options and lineups. I'm looking to see Jamari McDowell get a decent amount of time, and the walk-ons will get to mop up with plenty of time.

Kansas 97, Chaminade 57.
