Oklahoma State at Kansas Basketball Predictions: Gimme A Break

The crew gets together to predict if the Jayhawks will get the easy win they desperately need against the Cowboys.

The Kansas Jayhawks come back home after suffering a third road loss in as many weeks, this time at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones. But if there is one thing that can help get over road woes, it is coming home to statistically the worst team in the conference.

Despite the win on Saturday, the Oklahoma State Cowboys have been awful in conference play. Kansas destroyed them when they played in Stillwater earlier this month. That means the biggest question is whether the Jayhawks will be able to get their ailing seniors some rest, or if the final result will be in doubt after the 10 minute mark of the second half. Can Kansas get a relatively simple night?

Oklahoma State managed to get their first conference win of the season against West Virginia, but they remain a bad team that Kansas should dominate like they did a while back in Stillwater. KU got whatever they wanted from two point land in that one and I expect more of the same inside the friendly confines of Allen Fieldhouse. Kevin McCullar needs to get going and I see a lot of production coming from him, Hunter Dickinson, and KJ Adams in this one.

All the classic signs of a Kansas win are in place here. Oklahoma State, even off a win, is a bad team. KU is trying to rebound from a loss and the game is in Allen Fieldhouse. Derek is right, McCullar needs to get right offensively before this weekend’s clash with Houston, so I hope this is an opportunity for him to get his groove back. I worry that this may be a bit of a lookahead spot, but I still like the Jayhawks to take care of business.

Oklahoma State doesn't do much well. According the CBB Analytics, they are one of the worst teams in the paint, struggle to shoot in general and turn the ball over at a ridiculous pace. And all of those things are even worse in the last five games. You might be able to argue that the win over West Virginia might be the jump start they need, but the Jayhawks absolutely obliterated the Cowboys just 2 weeks ago. And the margin was nowhere near close enough to be worried about an inspired performance pushing the Cowboys over the top. Kansas rolls and we all get to go to bed early tonight.
