Kansas just played TCU in back to back games, an accomplishment that was once very rare but now, thanks to COVID postponements, is all the more likely. Today, we are doing a combo player ratings post based on performances in both games.

5 Stars:

Back to the Future

One of the great movies of all time. This is hands down the number one.

No one was a five star in these two disappointing outings.

4.5 Stars:

Back in Black

AC/DC made some great hard rock and Back in Black is one of the best records they made.

No one rocked like this record does.

4 Stars:

Out and Back Hikes

I like out and back hikes because you can kind of determine how long you want to go. Unless there’s an obvious end point, you can kind of make it up as you go. One of my faves is the Devil’s Garden trail at Arches National Park.

Does anyone know where to rate Dajuan Harris (Game One: 3.5 Stars. Game Two: 4.5 stars) properly? Scored none and assisted on seven in game one, but game two is where he came alive. Dajuan was back to driving and he even canned a three. That block at the end will get the attention, but his defensive play early was crucial as well. Finished with 11 points in Lawrence.

Jalen Wilson (Game One: 3.5 Stars. Game Two: 4 stars) started off the away game with a bang, scoring seven early points and he finished with 13. He grabbed ten rebounds in the game in Lawrence, and KU looked more likely to win when Jalen was on the court.

3.5 Stars:

Wearing a backpack on one shoulder

If you grew up in the 1980s and early 1990s, you couldn’t wear your backpack with both straps on or you wouldn’t be “cool.” Luckily, this changed because it hurts your back!

Four of 17. That’s how Ochai Agbaji (Game One: 2 Stars. Game Two: 4.5 Stars) shot in the first matchup. He made up for it with a nice performance in Lawrence, especially at the beginning to spark KU to a large early lead.

3 Stars:

Back to back games against the same team

What is this, minor league hockey? This kinda sucked for both teams.

Christian Braun (Game One: 3 Stars. Game Two: 3 Stars) didn’t fare much better than Ochai in the game in Fort Worth. He was four of eleven and didn’t do his usual box score filling routine. And in the game in Lawrence, Braun didn’t come alive until late.

You’d think someone with as much size as David McCormack (Game One: 3 Stars. Game Two: 3 Stars) has, and as good of position he gets, he’d be more likely to make baskets from three feet away, says the fan base that’s been saying this for three and a half years. Infuriating. He was frustrating in each game.

Mitch Lightfoot (Game One: 3.5 stars. Game Two: 3 Stars) was decent in game one after a dismal showing against Baylor. The technical foul in Lawrence was certainly unwarranted, but I also loved it.

Joseph Yesufu (Game One: 3.5 Stars. Game Two: 3 Stars). This is a tough rating as well. He seems to play pretty well in his limited minutes. It’s time the coaches sorted out what his role is going to be. Is it possible that Bill Self doesn’t know what to do with so many options?

2 Stars:

Backstreet Boys

Some people like this music. I am not one of those people.

Remy Martin (Game One: 3 Stars. Game Two: 2 Stars). I’m not sure what to make of Remy these days, but it looks like Bill Self is giving him the chance to be the first guard of the bench to replace Harris and Remy isn’t making the most of it.

KJ Adams (Game One: 3 Stars. Game Two: 2 Stars) was out there for seven minutes in game one and just kind of floated about. Not his best showing in either as he immediately fouled a TCU player late in Lawrence (while that player was shooting a three) and was yanked from the game.

1 Star:

Back Pain

No one likes back pain of any kind. And no one played as poorly over these two games to be compared to back pain.

The Nick Bahe Memorial No Star:

Zach Clemence (Game One: No Rating. Game Two: 2 stars) came into the first matchup very briefly, immediately got smashed in the nose and left for the remainder of the game. Missed open shots in game two but didn't do enough to have a true rating.
